Holy weight gain!!!!!
I just got back from my monthly check up with my OBGYN. Ready for this....I gained TEN POUNDS in one month!!!!!! I was about ready to cry. I'm so disgusted with myself. I knew it was going to be bad this month cause I just feel all around bigger, but I wasn't prepared for 10lbs! It's my own fault. I need to really pay more attention to what I'm putting in my belly. Geese louise! Good news though...h/b was 155 and belly is measuring a few days ahead.
I'm going for my 1 hour GD test tomorrow as well. That should be a good time.

Yeah, my doctor actually didn't seem to be all that concerned about it. I guess I'm just disappointed in myself because I know I could be healthier for me and for the baby, but I'm not. I need to step it up here.

sweety - please don't say things like that....do NOT be disappointed in yourself... if there was to be a cause for concern, your doctor would've had a few choice words for you.
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO GAIN WEIGHT WHEN PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!!!
Now snap out of it!

I agree…relax, its fine by eating and gaining weight you are doing something so amazing for your child, you are nourishing him/her! If you gain 15lbs or 75lbs is not the issue, is feeding your unborn child that is most important!
As someone who gained 50lbs during my pregnancy (and get this I didn’t start toe gain until after 12 weeks) I don’t feel bad about one thing…I gave birth to a happy and healthy baby boy who is the best eater I know, he eats meats, fruits, veggies etc. And I was able to get back to pp weight.
So don’t for one second feel disappointed in gaining 10lbs, you will have months where you gain a lot and then months where you gain 3lbs., Its okay!

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess the disappointment was setting in because I feel like the weight gain isn't only due to me being pregnant ya know? Like, I didn't need to eat McDonalds twice last week, or have that late night brownie, or eat the leftover V-day candy. I could have chosen a healthier option. That's what I mean by being disappointed in myself, cause i thought 10lbs was just unheard of weight gain in 1 months time. But you ladies are definitely helping to put it into perspective. That's why I love you guys!

Re: Holy weight gain!!!!!
This was me at my last visit...10 lbs in 1 month
Overall 14 lbs at 24 weeks, which isnt bad... I think it was just the initial shock of 10lbs in 4 weeks
I think that was a big month for me... because I was doing like 2-3 lbs/week... and havent gained since.....
I think we are just going through a growth spurt
I gained 50lbs with my 1st, and it was hard work to get it off.... So I completly understand how easy it is to get fustrated when you see big numbers...
As long as you arent pigging out on junk regularly- you will be fine!!!

Don't worry about it too much. I was so upset last month when I gained 10lbs. But I just went to the doc the other day and only gained 2 this month, so it evens out.

I agree with you, and disagree with those telling you 'you're SUPPOSED to gain weight" etc etc ........I think yo're being hard on yourself (but I would do the same thing)
Yes, you are supposed to gain weight while you are PG, but like you said, you do not HAVE to gain 10 lbs in a month.........CAN you, sure .........but it's not a requirement 'for the baby'
If YOU are not comfortable with your weight gain, if YOU feel that you should be eating better for yourself and for the baby, if YOU, knowing YOURSELF do not WANT to gain an extreme amount of weight .........then, you do not HAVE to 'for the baby' - The extra calores you're supposed to be eating 'for the baby' is something like 300 a day .....it's not a big mac and fries - I constantly have this argument w/ my family .......no PG woman ever died from skipping the ice cream or cookies. -Being PG is not a free pass for me to stuff my face on a regular basis, so please stop rolling youir eyes when I decline the cake or cookies or fries or whatever .........
If you WANT to eat those things, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it and you can absolutely 100% lose the weight and get back on track after your pregnancy is over .........but not everyone has the mentality of 'I'm PG, i'm supposed to 'get fat' so I can eat whatever I want whenever I want' .....
You have to do what you feel is best for you - regardless of what everyone else tells you -

Re: Holy weight gain!!!!!
Please take this advice from a BTDT new mom...
Do not beat yourself up over every single pd gained or lost. Eat healthy when you are hungry. Every body and person is different, and will all react differently to pregnancy. However, do not use the fact that you are pregnant as an excuse, either.
I started out a little underweight when I got pregnant (5"5 115lbs). I also quit smoking as soon as I found out. SO at my 12 week appt when I was up to 132lbs, I excused it by thinking I should have been a few lbs heavier to start anyway, plus 5lbs gain for stop smoking, etc.. Every month I went up 5lbs-10lbs. Do the math. I wound up gaining 68lbs. I dropped 30 immediately and the last 38 refuse to come off.....
Anyway, my advice is listen to your body. By all means, eat when you are hungry, but if you know you can be making smarter choices, than make a concious effort to do so. Instead of 2 hamburgers, eat 1. If you want ice cream, eat it, but stick to 1 scoop. Eat a granola bar or piece of fruit instead of potatoe chips, KWIM?
