Holy Moly
The RE office just sent me the details of my coverage for IVF... Even with the help of my insurance for IVF.... We will still have to pay atleast $2,800 out of pocket for copays, freezing storage, sperm preservation and storage, and thawing, plus co-pays. Plus 10%... cause that is just what our insurance requires for everything. I guess we better start saving! What the heck is the insurance paying for???!!!!!
Is this the norm???? I pray they do better with IUI.
Every single sono and dr visit goes against the 10K....

Re: Holy Moly
I hate to say it, but i think you have pretty decent coverage! Last I heard (almost 2 yrs ago) my insurance hardly covers anything...it would cost me almost 10,000 out of pocket

Re: Holy Moly
honestly, i dont think thats too terrible at all. especially because we will be paying out of pocket 100% if we end up having to do IVF.

This is all so new to me.... So knowing I had some coverage, I though until I met hit my max it would cover most of it.... I see now, it is not as bad. But we still need to save up, especially if we end up going over the max.

Re: Holy Moly
That does not seem bad, but for the average person, that is a lot of money..it is for me..I was just complaining about 2 weeks worth of meds costing almost $200. The co pays add up faster than I imagined...but in the end a beautiful baby is so worth it!!

Re: Holy Moly
I'll trade you? I have no IVF coverage. My first cycle cost us about $12k out of pocket plus another $13k for DH's surgery. So we spent $25k totally out of pocket. And that cycle failed.

Re: Holy Moly
I just paid $9,000 out of pocket plus another $2,000 for meds. I'd say you have pretty good coverage!

Re: Holy Moly
We have $10,000 Lifetime and insurance only pays 80% and we have to pay the other 20%...Our meds aren't covered, anestesia isnt covered and our co-pays are $35 a visit.
Last cycle we would have been OOP about $6000 but I got meds donated so that took $2000 away...
This cycle we are looking at about $6000+$450 for the DNA Frag test.
And I think we have pretty decent coverage considering some dont get covered at all and those that do pay OOP a significant amount. Ill switch with you!!!

I have to say that is really good. I have no coverage for anything and it would have been even more then that to just do a IUI

Why so much for IUI? Our IUI's were $150 for wash and then $250 for the actual IUI procedure. The meds (clomid) were a couple of bucks but not close to $2800...its that cost from a RE or OB.GYN office? Just curious...
