Holy constipation
I think I overdid it with the bananas. Is miralax okay to take? Is colace our only option? It didn't really work for me the last time I was pregnant :/

I think colace is the only option. I haven't taken it yet, just dealt with the constipation.

Re: Holy constipation
I take 3 colaces everyday, doesn't make you go but makes it easier to go. Also, not sure about Metamucil but I think it's safe.
Make sure you are drinking a ton of water and def increase your fiber intake. Good Luck!

Yikes, That's a long time! If you're on progesterone that could also be making it worse. PIO did for me.
My mom swears by prune juice, but I am not a fan. I think I've heard if you warm it up it helps even more so.

Try flax seed. It has been the only thing that works for me!

My high risk doctor ok'd milk of magnesia for me. I take it approx once a week because I've always had issues with being regular.

Holy constipation
One of my co-workers told me about it...now I have a spoonful of it almost everyday with great grains cereal (high in fiber but really good) and it works. It may not result on an everyday occurrence but it's pretty close. I also took one colace a day for a long time...just stopped them and I've been fine. I credit the flax!

Re: Holy constipation
I find that tons of water and green juices really help to keep me regular. If you have a juicer and blender at home, my go to juice is usually 6-7 apples, 1 lemon and a handful of kale. Juice the fruits and then add the juice to the kale and blend it all up so you don't lose any of the fiber :) if you can stomach it, give it a whirl! You'll get 2 big glasses from that amount of fruit/veggies.

Also make sure your prenatal has a built in stool softener. It helps a lot

Re: Holy constipation
Milk of Magnesia is safe during pregnancy. It was a lifesaver when I was having problems earlier in my pregnancy. Flax seed is not considered safe during pregnancy, so stay away from that.

I had no idea flax was unsafe! Any reason why? I love it with my cereal.

My research has shown flaxseed and flaxseed oil are ok. I don't eat it, it's got the same possible estrogen like properties the same as soy and edemame.

That's just one of many articles from reputable sources discouraging flax during pregnancy.
