So, even with all the hassle of the short sale, it was well worth it!
Two houses down a house just went into settlement; it's smaller, less acreage, and needs SUBSTANTIAL updating, a new roof, new heating/ac, etc. We made an offer on it months ago, but negotiations fell through.
They settled for $110k MORE than what we paid on our new house just two weeks ago, through the short sale!
Considering ours is in minimally worse shape than theirs, I would say we made a GREAT purchase, especially because we're going to keep costs down by doing the renovations ourselves

It's a great feeling..the house we're buying, needs cosmetic work, but not a substantial amount, the normal, paint floors etc..there are two houses a few houses down from us, one like two the other 4, they're both asking over 400K more than we're paying Do I think they're going to get it they're asking no way in hell, but I do think theyll get a good 200k over...one of the houses needs less than ours, but not a lot less!!! I love getting a good deal!!!
