I went today and noticed the sign said it's $150 for the annual pass for nonresidents. Not cheap, but better than the 250 they originally said.

Totally not worth $150, but I get why they are charging. The Suffolk County Farm is a few exits away and free.

Never knew about this farm... Would it be a good place to take a 1 yr old?

The Farm is in Yaphank, and yes we took my son many times when he was one. They have lots of land to run around, tons of farm animals, and you can feed the goats and sheep. And yes, it's free! We live closer to the Ecology Center, and likely will pay the daily fee from time to time.

I took DD when she was around 18 months. It wasn't the best experience. Its a real , working farm. It's muddy, I'm not sure about pushing a stroller around. DD walked but if I had to pick her up , her muddy shoes got all over me.It's big, there's a lot of walking if you want to see all the animals.

It's definitely worth checking out, but maybe use a wagon instead of a stroller and don't wear flip flops!!

We took DD in the city mini and it was fine to push her although she was in and out of the stroller a lot. I guess you really want to be careful to go when it hasn't rained in a few days.

It's a fun place for toddlers, but I would wait until they're walking for them to have the most fun. DD is still just cruising so it was kind of tough. She was holding onto all the pens so I was nervous she'd cut herself on the wire or get nibbled on by the animals. They also have tons of little things to climb and play on which she wasn't quite ready for. We still had a great time there though!

Suffolk County Farm isn't normally muddy, but it is dirt (it's a farm afterall). There is some outdoor stuff that they seem to have added in the recent year. Learning classroom type stuff. They have a wagon ride on the weekends that I think is $2 a person, and a small playground.
