Holding pee while potty training
What are you supposed to do if your potty training and they hold in their pee? I'm trying to potty train my Dd she just turned 3 in April. She had no diaper on today and has peed in the potty before. Today she held it in all afternoon and I know she had to go bc she drank a lot of water. What the heck do you do then?

Re: Holding pee while potty training
My son was doing this. We took a break for a few weeks and then went back to it. I felt he wasn't ready. When we revisited he stopped holding it. He would hold all day

Re: Holding pee while potty training
It's a control thing. Dd once held it in for 18 hours. He'll go when he's ready. The more you push, the more he'll hold it in. Good luck! Are you doing a rewards chart? We did stickers for every time she went and after 10 stickers she got a prize.

Re: Holding pee while potty training
i would just let her go when she needs/wants to go.
I feel that if she can hold it without accident she should know when to go. Of course this is if she's ready to train (no accidents)
Is she having accidents? Is she going on her own?
My dd is 4 and can hold it for 14 hours more sometimes. We've only had MAYBE 3 accidents in 1 1/2.

Re: Holding pee while potty training
She hasn't had any accidents since she started holding it. I don't make her go I just keep reminding her to keep her undies dry and to use the potty when she has to go. She's done it before and I know she gets it it's just the holding that's killing me!

Re: Holding pee while potty training
Hahah. They love control. Lol. It makes my bladder hurt watching dd lol.
As long as there are no accident a just keep reminding her. Sometimes making dd wash her hands or brush her teeth make her go. try that if you think it's been to long.

Re: Holding pee while potty training
My son got a bladder infection from holding it in. At that point we got very strict orders from his doctor to just put him back in diapers for a month. After three weeks he was asking to try again and not going in his diapers but we still waited a bit. Shortly after that he was trained for good, never had any accidents. A lot of the kids we knew who trained much earlier had a lot of accidents. We really never ever had to deal with an accident either out in public or overnight. The only thing I lost were bragging rights over when my son was potty trained and money for diapers.

Re: Holding pee while potty training
ugh! my son is the same way! he'll hold it, rarely ever tells me he has to go- its like he waits for me to take him ( I'm a SAHM and with him all day). (hes fine with poop though, which is good) I think its all part of the learning process.... their bodies are still learning what it feels like, etc. I just keep reminding him that he doesn't have to wait for me to take him, etc.
