Hives! WWYD?
So, my 7 year old came to me today and said he put lotion on because he had dry skin and it didn’t help the itching. I turned around and saw his neck was all red. I then looked under his shirt and there were hives everywhere! This was at 5. I immediately gave him Benadryl. It’s been an hour and he’s still itchy and still has hives. Would you take him to PM peds?

We were in the same boat recently. I gave it a day to see if it got better before going to the ped. I did give benadryl and claritin. They checked her for strep which was negative so they just said wait it out. We did oatmeal baths too. It got worse over about 2.5 days and then she had another 2 or 3 days where her face was red and swollen but at least she wasn't itchy then. She had been sick a few weeks before and they thought it was related to that.

I wound up taking him and he immediately tested positive for strep! Crazy! I’m glad I wound up bringing him. Poor kid still has hives everywhere.
