Highlighting/haircolor question

I have a GC to Cactus and I'm considering getting highlights. I usually do a single process, very dark (soft black). My true hair color is growing in, about 2-3 inches is showing so far, and I'm loving it especially since it's getting a lot of red and gold highlights from the sun.

I don't think I want a full head - just enough to help lighten the dark part of my hair and blend it all together so I don't have that definitive dye line.

I was thinking of getting 1/2 head of highlights - but not too light, maybe even see if they do bayalage, because the only other way to get rid of the dark is to strip the color and I don't want to ruin my hair. Any other ideas?

Re: Highlighting/haircolor question

I would get a partial head of Carmamel or auburn highlights . it should lift fine as long as your hair isnt black. HTH

The bottom part is (colored, soft black). Does that mean I can't get highlights?

Re: Highlighting/haircolor question

when you highlight your hair, your entire head will lighten in one way or another...

I used to dye my naturally dark blonde hair jet black for years and the only way I'd get it back to my natural was to highlight it and then get it toned in the color I wanted (you seem to want caramel; I used to get a mix of both honey and caramel)

I'm okay with all of it being lightened, I just really want to get rid of the black...
