Highlighting hair

Is it safe to highlight my hair? I am getting ugly roots and could use a touch up. Is it better to ask my doctor? I am 12 weeks today, is it too early to get them done?

i'd definitely call the doc - EVERY doc has a different opinion on this....they may tell you not to do it, they may tell you that you can, but avoid this or that...

i got my hair dyed professionally the DAY BEFORE our BFP...i thought for sure - i was out. The doc was not concerned...

Re: Highlighting hair

I agree to check with your doctor. Everyone has a different view. For me (and my doctor) I got highlighted after 12 weeks. The thing about highlights was more about the inhalation so when you do go, make sure your salon is well ventilated. Hair color sits on your scalp and can penetrate the skin so there are precautions for that.

I was told that any odor (hair, nails, painting, etc.)... if it's strong enough to give you a headache, it's probably not a good idea to do it.

I got my highlights done in December, right before I got my BFP too! I am due now for a touch up, but of course, I don't want to do anything until I know for sure. Thanks!

Re: Highlighting hair

I got highlights done last month instead of a single process because they didn't touch the root, I was told it was fine. I guess speak with your doctor they will be better able to clarify.

Re: Highlighting hair

it is totally fine to get hilites it does not penetrate into the scalp it only goes into to foil packet. but even if you needed grey coverage you can still use a semi-permanant

Re: Highlighting hair

I've been getting highlights since the end of the first tri. As long as it's not touching your scalp it's fine.
