Highchair Help (Especially those with 2 under 2ish)

DD1 will be 2 in March and still sits in a high chair. DD2 is 5 months old so we will be starting solids next month. I don't know what to do about a high chair. Should I get a booster-type chair for DD1 and give her old chair to DD2? Or get a whole new chair for DD2?

DD1 has a Graco Blossom 4 in 1 which we like because we can use it as a portable high chair for when we go to family. If we were to get another high chair for DD2, I don't want to spend as much as we did for the Graco Blossom but I like how versatile it is so I was looking at possibly the Chicco Stack 3 in 1, Ingenuity SmartClean Trio 3-in-1, Evenflo Quatore 4 -in-1, or Graco Simpleswitch.

I'm leaning towards getting DD2 her own chair because I can totally see DD1 throwing a fit that DD2 is in "her" chair.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks!

Move #1 to a booster. We moved DS by 18months and he loved it. We had (i think ) a FP one and you could slightly adjust the height.

I say get DD#1 a booster but does she really need a high chair? I only ask cause DS who is 2 not longer sits in one and hasn't in a while.

Dd is 18 mo but she's been out of a high chair for 4-5 mo?

Unless we're out at a restaurant she usually just sits at the table. Sometimes she'll agree to a booster, but not always

I think she's too small to sit at just the table without anything. She loves her chair lol. I might convert her's to the booster and try that at the table first to see how it goes and then maybe get a booster.

Any recommendations for one? My dad has one at his house but it's so junky- no padding, hard. I forget the brand though.

I had 2 girls under 2 and there's no way I'd be dealing with two high chairs! For us, my older one hated the high chair anyway, so it was easy to get her in a booster. If you're going to get anything, I'd go with the Fisher Price Space Saver--it goes right on a kitchen chair. I totally threw out my high chair after DD2 was done with it and bought the Space Saver for #3...wished I had that from the start.

IKEA has a great highchair for $15!

My 2nd is a peanut and I can't imagine her out of a highchair anytime before 2.5!!

DS1 moved to booster right before his 2nd bday last year. The graco blossom comes with a booster, we just strapped that one onto one of the chairs.

We have the simple plastic fp booster and I love it. My older dd used it from 2 until over 3.5. She's loved switching to that and getting to sir at the big table. If do that, get her a cute character place mat to play it up a little and let the baby have the big high chair. I wouldn't but another for the sorry time you'll use it. Dd doesn't mind the hard plastic and it definitely makes clean up easier. She also liked climbing in and out herself.

We also have the graco blossom. Dd1 has been in a booster since about 20 months. Dd2 is in the high chair but it's great bc with the one chair each girl has their own seat for their age.

My DS is 21 months and has been in a booster for around 2 months. We have the graco blossom that a previous poster mentioned. Sometimes he'll sit in his high chair if we have company and need the extra chair. My DS definitely needs to be strapped in otherwise he'd be all over the place!

If both boys are eating at the same time, I put my 2.5 year old at his kid-size table & chair & he eats there so the baby can use the high chair. I normally don't feed them at the same exact time though, so they're both able to still use the high chair.

If I use just the booster part of the blossom without the high chair seat, she won't reach the table.

We have the same high chair and do what others have already mentioned, booster for the older, high chair for the baby. We have a high back booster with a tray that fits both kids at my parents. I think it's a Fischer Price from BBB. I've been really pleased with it.

Is she really petite? My DS is not very tall (33.5 inches) and has no trouble reaching the table.

With that said, I'd check out the fisher price boosters then. They come with a tray so there's no need for them to reach the table. They're also relatively inexpensive.

We have that as well as our travel booster. The fp deluxe booster it's great and only like $25-30.

DS started sitting in a regular chair around 2, or shortly thereafter.

I now have a 3 years old and an 8 month old. I couldn't imaging having 2 highchairs. They'd take up so much space! Plus, your older one likely won't sit in one much longer. If anything, I'd use a portable booster with your older one (so it can double if you need it to travel with) and a highchair for your younger one.

When my little one arrived we moved my big guy (then almost 2) to a booster chair at the table. This freed up the high chair for the baby.

Totally forgot to update lol.

So I tried to put DD1 in the booster at the table and while she's a bit short, she barely makes it. So far so good...mostly. She has freaked out a couple of times that the baby is in "her chair" and I've had to fight to put her in the booster a few times but it's only been a few days.

I guess now we'll just get an extra portable booster to bring with us if we need it.

Thanks!
