Re: Help with spaghetti squash

I'm making it tonight. The recipe I have gives options for the oven or microwave.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Halve the spaghetti squash lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes. Place squash halves, cut sides down, on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until tender. Cool slightly. Using a fork, shred and separate the spaghetti squash into strands.

or

Place one squash half, cut side down, in a microwave-safe baking dish with 1/4 cup water. Cover and microwave on 100 percent power (high) for 5 to 8 minutes or until tender; remove and keep warm. Repeat with second half.

I'm not sure why you can't do both halves in the microwave at the same time.

Re: Help with spaghetti squash

I usually microwave it in a shallow baking dish with water. It takes about 8 minutes for 1/2 a spaghetti squash. Once it's soft I use a fork to take it out of the shell. I then add sauce and parm cheese.

You can also bake it until it's tender enough to pull out. I would also bake in a shallow pan w/ water.

I usually bake at 400 for 40 minutes - cut in half, cut side down.

Easiest way i make it. Keep it whole. Poke some holes in it with a fork or skewer so it doesn't explode. Throw it in a baking dish and bake for about an hour at 375. When it gets a little soft, and smells sweet it's ready. Take it out, hold it with a towel and cut it down the middle. Discard seeds. Scrape with fork and enjoy. Love it with sauce and grated cheese!

Re: Help with spaghetti squash

Crashing...I made this for the first time the other night and I thought I cooked it long enough but I guess I didn't because the squash was crunchy and I was told it is not supposed to be crunchy.

Is that true?

I had a fairly large squash and cut it in half. I roasted it in the oven on 400 for about 50 minutes. I stuck a knife in the shell and it went it easily and the other side was starting to get a little brown so I thought it was done.

thanks. I didn't realize it was that simple.

I may have a new favorite thing here. Can't wait to try it.
