Help with new TV
So we finally got rid of our dinosaur tv and bought our first, yes very first, flat screen tv today. We hooked it up but it still doesn't have an exact clear picture. We have the HDMI cable plugged in from the tv into a dvd player because there was not slot for it on our cablevision cable box. Is this right? Or am I supposed to get a new cable box?? We keep clicking on the HDMI button on our remote, but the screen will say " no signal". I know this is so dumb, but we are clueless with this because we never had a flat screen before
Any ideas ?? TIA !!

Re: Help with new TV
Yes you need a HDMI Cablebox, where there will be a port to plug in the HDMI Cable to your TV. You are not getting a signal because there is nothing plugged in your cable box.

Re: Help with new TV
I have optimum and don't pay extra for the hd box. Same cost as a regular box.

And buy your HDMI cables from monoprice.com. Don't pay those crazy prices at stores like Best Buy.

Re: Help with new TV
Whatever cables you have going from the cable box to the DVD player is a mediocre signal. The DVD player and HDMI cable can't improve the signal, so it just passes along the lesser quality signal. You need to use HDMI from the original source, being the cable box.

Re: Help with new TV
you need an HD Cable Box... Just go to one of the Optimum stores and swap it and they will update your account. There is no extra charge for it, but you can't get HD channels without the HD converter box.
