I swear, I bore my family to death complaining about this every time we are outside in the yard but its really crazy...

We lived in West Hempstead when we rented and had access to the backyard and had a tomato garden. I barely did anything except water and harvest the tomatoes and these plants were amazing. At least 3' tall and more tomatoes than I could ever eat. And I planted a basil plant and an oregano plant in a small clay pot and again, I had a small tree going on every year.

Then we bought a house in Lindenhurst and did the same thing and I cannot get a good "crop". This is our 5th year in the house and we have never had the "luck" we had in the old house.

The weeds are out of control here and the plants are just barely hanging on.

Is the soil that different?

Any avid gardeners with tips? They would be GREATLY appreciated.
