Help with getting an infant to take vitamins!
My 6.5 month old DD is supposed to take vitamins. I really want to make sure she gets them because she does not drink enough formula (under 20 oz per day). If I give them to her straight, she spits them out. Yesterday, I mixed them in a bottle, and she threw up the bottle. That may have been a fluke, but in general bottles aren't great ideas because she does not drink them well. Tonight, I tried adding them to her green beans midway through her meal and she started crying and refusing to eat anymore! Any suggestions? Thanks!

Help with getting an infant to take vitamins!
DD loved the vitamin D drops from the start but once we had to switch to the multivitamin at 6 months she was not a fan. I just do it while she's laying on her back and when she stops shaking her head long enough for me to sneak it in, I do the whole thing at once. If she doesn't quite get it all then oh well! The first few times she cried and was miserable but I kept trying and she's gotten much better. No tears, she just clearly doesn't enjoy them. I usually brush her teeth right after since she likes that and I feel like it will get the taste out of her mouth. I've also heard the pharmacy can add flavoring so I might ask for that next time.

Did you try in her cereal? I mixed in the vitamin in the cereal with fruit and my boys always gobbled it up.

Here's the problem. It says not to give within 2 hours of antacid, and DD takes Prevacid in the morning and at night. She has breakfast and lunch at daycare, and they aren't supposed to give meds, although I will ask them about vitamins. Tonight I tried putting it in her green beans, which I was giving her separate from the cereal. Maybe it will work better all mixed together or with fruit, but she usually has fruit in the morning, when she's not with me.

I had DS's flavored to Cherry and put them in with his fruits or an ounce of juice.

Good luck. Yes, ask the daycare. if they won't do it, I would suggest giving her another fruit at night with you and mix it in that. That way you can make sure she gets it.
