HELP WITH CRAVINGS (IE CIGS)
Ok, I'm on day two of quitting smoking and I've been dying the last hour. Like my skin is literly crawling. I called NY Quits, but didn't do anything. DH is bring home more gum for me (being I've had like 3 packs of gum in the last 2 days). Plus we are out of soda (I'm a caffine nutjob). In addition, I've raided our cabinets, I've eaten soo much, but of course, it was just to satisfy my bordem. Also, I'm home alone, therefore bored, therefore I want a cig. Please help me stay at this comp and not go in my PJ's to the gas station to pick up a pack

First let me say good for you! I've been there! I know it's tough. I hope you at least got rid of all the temptation from the house. Keep yourself busy. Cleaning or playing a computer card game took up time. Trust me it gets easier. Although I still get the occasional craving when I have a drink. Good Luck!

I know, I should totally get lollipops, but I don't trust myself. If I go to 7-11 now, I'll buy cigs, I know it. Gum made yesterday bearable. Plus, I'm having surgery on Monday, so I don't want to take any kind of over the counter thing, hence why I've been sticky with gum (no-nicotine). I know its totally an oral thing with me. Thanks so much, I'll try and get lollis when I wake up tomorrow. I just needed some help, and you came in handy!

well, I'm hoping a week recoverying after my thyroid surgery would help (being my neck will hurt). Plus, we want to TTC soon. I don't know how i'm gonna do this, but I know I have to. I wish DH would too, but he won't smoke around me.
THanks for all your help tonight!!!

You can do it...I know you can! It's so so so hard...but it's worth it. Good luck..utilize the fact that you won't be able to smoke after surgery to try to stop then...

Re: HELP WITH CRAVINGS (IE CIGS)
Orange Juice through a straw helped me. The Vitamin C does something to the cravings. I drank so many glasses that I got soars all over my mouth. But it was worth it to quit!

I actually wanted to quit after New Years, but then did what you just said, I said I'll quit after the surgery. Then I woke up coughing (no shocker) and realize I better not be sick for the surgery.

Try eating pumpkin or sunflower seeds. They helped me quit.

Re: HELP WITH CRAVINGS (IE CIGS)
Oh the cravings are terrible and I hate that we turn to food to satisfy them. And still we crave that cigarette. Take a shower if you have to, drink through a straw to help with the oral fixation. Sometimes I used to "pretend" to smoke the straw so physically I was doing the smoking but not actually smoking. That actually helped my mental state!
Good Luck!

Re: HELP WITH CRAVINGS (IE CIGS)
I am so happy that you quit! In April, I will be 2 years clean from the dirty, nasty cigs! It really helps to do some research on the negative effects of smoking on the human body and just keep in mind that this withdrawl will only last a little bit longer.
DON'T HAVE A CIGARETTE!!! NOT EVEN A PUFF!!
You can do it!!

Suck on a cinnamon stick. It helps with the "habit" part of quitting. The next couple of days are going to be hard but it does get better and so much easier. Just keep up the good work!

Re: HELP WITH CRAVINGS (IE CIGS)
Lolipops helped. Also Life savers. But with the Life Savers put them on the roof of your mouth and hold them there with the tip of your tongue. Don't know why but it worked.
You can do it!
