Re: help- what side to install car seat?
I have always had DD in the middle and I have a tiny 4 door Honda Civic. I've been able to squeeze in the back with her.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
We put DD's carseat on the passenger side back seat. We have a Pacifica so there is no middle.
Now that Baby 2 is on the way, we are moving her out and putting baby seat there and possibly putting her into the 3rd row so we can still use the other seats.

When I had a Honda accord dd seat was in the middle. I was able to get in the back to get her in. Now that we have a pilot the mannaul says to put the seat on the passanger side.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
I just watched some video on this yesterday and they said if at all possible to always install on the passenger side as it makes it safer for loading and unloading.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
Behind passenger seat. When DD arrives we will move DS behind driver and put infant behind pass seat again.

Every car is different. Read your owners manual and it should tell you where the safest spot in YOUR car is.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
my nissan altima had me install it in the middle. we took it to be inspected, and although DH had followed the directions and had it correctly in, it wasn't in the proper spot according to the nassau county car seat inspector.
i HIGHLY suggest getting your carseat professionally installed or inspected.
if you're in nassau, make an appointment with carseat safety chris at 516-571-9664. he has been doing this for decades.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
My car doesn't have a middle seat in the back. We put the infant seat behind the passenger. Moved her to the driver's side once we put the convertible in.
Hope you had a successful installation today!

ITA. You can't base your decision on what others do. It depends on the car you have.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
I've always installed it in the middle but we have SUV's so we had the space, but behind the passenger is good when you don't. When I was working at the hospital that is what we told patients.
South Nassau is great hospital. I haven't delivered there but I know people who have and they loved it. I was hospitalized there early last year and the food was awesome and the staff was really friendly.

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
We couldn't do the middle in the SUV (too short, base hung over too far) so we went with the passenger side. This way when we drive and have to put the seat back, it doesn't hit against the car seat (we're both tall and have the driver seat back far).

Re: help- what side to install car seat?
The middle is the safest. When I had my DD we got the seat inspected at the police station and they said that is the best place if you were ever to be in an accident. That being said, now that I'm expecting #2 I had to put the baby seat on a side since DD is still in a car seat as well and did some research - behind the passenger seat is what is recommended.
