HELP! Second guessing myself (w/pic)
So we bought the house one year ago and my dining room is the last room I have yet to decorate due to (for lack of a better word) Designers Block!
Well for X-mas our friends bought us this wine rack to go in our dining room and I took it as a hint (and motivation) to complete this room
So I ordered these curtains from JCPenny in 95" length because thought I wanted to hang them from ceiling to floor. Now that they are up, I dont know if I like it. I feel like the space in between the window and the ceiling looks silly. Im not sure if I have just been used to this room being bare for so long that I just have to get used to it. Please let me know what your honest opinion is and Im open to any suggestions. (Please don't mind how wrinkled they are, I just pulled them out of the bag)
I will also be adding a new light fixture, area rug and shelving.
Thanks in advanced! I will be so relieved to have this room complete

First I LOVE your dining room chairs the wine rack is also so nice!
I like the curtains and I might not have noticed the gap if you didn't say it...I would suggest a valance...since the room has a cremish wall and the table is dark you could do any pattern or color . I think it might be a great way to make the room POP with a color.
I am a red girl, so I would most likely get a nice red/burgandy/wine valance-but whatever color you guys prefer would be great--maybe even a color that matches your china?

Re: HELP! Second guessing myself (w/pic)
you need a longer curtain rod and more fabric to the sides of the window. you will not notice the gap at the top as much with more fabirc to the sides.
the sides are too thin drawing your eye up to make the window look thin. you want the window to look full and draw your eye out. add another set of panels to each side and get a longer curtain rod.
ETA your curtain rod should always be at the very least 3-4" longer on each side on the window. your appears to be exactly the length of the window

Thanks for the advice guys!
Heather - The curtain rod is adjustable and extends much further. The panels have a lot of fabric I think I just had them bunched together. Is this a little more like what you were talking about? (ETA: Please excuse the dog toy on the floor)

I think it looks great like this. I think once you are finished with the whole room, you will love how it all comes together.
I think you need something else in the center of the table. Something to go with the room more. It could be a white ceramic piece. Maybe a bowl or a long platter of some sort. Or if you want to add in a pop of color go with something with the pop color for the table. But add the pop color in on the shelves too. It could just be something small on the shelf, but it will bring the color together in the room. HTH!

Also, maybe a colorful Centerpiece on the dining table, like a modern pink floral centerpiece I just invisioned that when I saw your dining room.

yes!!!! see you don't notice the gap as much!! and I agree with Jenn you need something on the table you can even get some art work or those wrought iron pieces on the wall next to the windows.
Don't forget, you are taking the picture from a very low angle as well. most people are not 2 feet tall with eyes pointed to the ceiling
Glad it was adjustable!!!

I think it looks really nice but I do see something that just doesn't fit in....
That celling fan.. You may want to rethink it and replace it with a light fixture..

i think it looks much better now that you changed the length of the curtain rod...i think all you need is a new light fixture instead of the fan and it will look complete...

Re: HELP! Second guessing myself (w/pic)
Love your furniture :) I would move blinds up, lengthen curtain rod, replace fan with chandalier and maybe a rug. None of my window coverings are true to size with the window. I even hung my roman shade in the laundry room a foot over the frame. I like the look of big windows. Image Attachment(s):

You could also do a tie back on either side and pull the curtain all the way to the middle
In all honesty I am not crazy about the white curtain on the beige wall. Have you considered a stripe or pattern? That would also give you some inspiration for decor

I was thinking the same thing. I would try to push them more towards the middle on the top and do a tie back on both sides closer to the bottom of the window. It might frame the window out a little nicer instead of both curtains just hanging straight down on either side.
