Help really fast-injured bird-Update!
DH and I have an injured bird in our yard. I'm almost positive he has a sprained wing. We put some food (breadcrumbs) and water by him, and he started running down the block. We are trying to keep him contained in our yard. Does anyone know of anyone who can help us? We tried a few numbers, and they are all closed.
ETA: So we got in touch with a couple of rescue groups...it turns out that he was a fledgling, and we weren't supposed to do anything. Apparently, mother birds let their fledglings practice flying in this way while watching from afar. He wound up running away into our neighbors yard, and then I saw a ton of little birds who appeared to be "practicing" flying (sort of flying/sort of falling), so I think he is fine now.
Thank you all for your help.

Thanks so much! I gave WINORR a call; we're really far from the others. I left a message; I'm hoping they get back to me soon.

Call Central Veterinary Associates, they have a location in Valley Stream that is open 24/7... I seem to remember when I used to go there that someone brought in a bird that was injured and they asked where it was found so it could be returned there.
