Help! My 37 week appt - 2 cm dilated with BIG baby!
OMG! What exactly does it mean to be 2cm dilated? I have felt period-type cramps all week, along with BH contractions, and went into what I think was false labor last Friday night. Apparently, it all adds up to 2cm dilated.
My doc wants me to do everything I can to go into labor because he says the baby is measuring BIG and it would be great if I went into labor sooner than later.
My DH has me on bedrest 'til Sunday night b/c he still has to finish the baby's room! lol.
Just wondering... what could it mean to be 2cm dilated at this point? I feel a LOT of pressure! Has anyone ever had experience with this? When do you think I can expect to "go"??

honestly it probably doesnt mean that much. i was 2cm at 33w. i had a c-section due to pre-eclampsia that day - they were going to induce me and that's how i found out i was dialated. im pretty sure i felt the contractions that dialated me because it felt like dull cramping followed by what felt like little lightening bolts shooting out of me.

My friend was 3 cm for 3 weeks before she had her baby (1 week early). She danced all night at my wedding (god bless her!) and she still didn't go into labor for 3 weeks. IMO - The baby will come when it's good and ready!

Yeah, it honestly doesn't mean much. You can be 2cm for a while with no actual labor. Hopefully the baby isn't as big as your doc is estimating. Growth sonos and weight estimates can be way off. They estimated my son to be over 9lbs when I was at the hospital in labor and he came out a little over 8lb.

Yup... I was 1.5 cm for weeks.
Baby will come when he/she decides to.

You could be 2cm dilated for weeks, or it could mean that you go into labor tomorrow. At the very least it means your body is getting ready!

And yes, growth sonos can be way off!
My friend was told she was going to have an at least 8.5 lb baby by Father's Day... She was induced June 30 and ended up having a 22" 7.1lb baby! Way off and way off!!!
