Help me pick my new car
Keep in mind I have a dd who is 11 months and plan to have another in a year or 2....
I am trying to decide between leasing a Hyundai Sante Fe or a Chevy Malibu.....the prices are similar except that since I have a chevy now (trailblazer) that I am turning in, they will roll the amount I owe on the leased car (for over mileage) into the new lease for the malibu
If I put 0 down on the malibu, the payments would be 379/month for 15k miles a year (2.3% interest)
If I put 3,000 down, the payment would be $325
The sante fe payment with 1,000 down would be $320 /month (keep in mind that if I go with the sante fe, I will have to pay checy approximately 2,500 for the over mileage and the early lease turn in)
WWYD?
TIA

Re: Help me pick my new car
My MIL and my BIL both had Malibus that they hated. Not sure why.
My ILs love their Santa Fe.

Re: Help me pick my new car
I can't comment on either vehicle first hadn but here are some things to think about.
If you are leasing again with the same car company, they should eat the overmileage charges. Sounds like you have room for negotiation.
Also, check the insurance and gas mileage to get an overall financial picture for both cars.

Re: Help me pick my new car
my mom has a santa fe she loves. The new malibu has won all sorts of awards for being a great car & its now available as a hybrid.
I don't lease, but it sounds like you could negotiate with chevy. Keep in mind GM just announced their worst quarter EVER in the history of the company.
You could probably buy a car for an excellent price right now.

Re: Help me pick my new car
The 2008 Malibu is a great car - so much better than any of the years before.....
If they are going to help you with the money you owe then get the Malibu. What about the Equinox? If you want an SUV.
My sister in law had to do this with her envoy - she was over the miles...She just leased an Acadia

equinox is too much for me now, it is about 4k more than the malibu and the sante fe

With an 11 moth old and another possibly on the way soon, Santa Fe definitely sounds like the way to go!

Re: Help me pick my new car
My mom is on her 2nd santa fe. Loves it. Has no complaints, and I hear the new one has the 3rd row.
Only thing that makes me lean toward the Malibu is the fact that Chevy will roll over what you owe.
The Santa fe would probably be more practical for you with 1 DC and plans for a 2nd.

Re: Help me pick my new car
one more thing. A lot of car companies will pay your overmileage fees or remaining lease payments to get you to be a customer. I would still negotiate.
I've heard good things about both cars though.
