Help me pick a jacket for DD

I like the idea of having a snow suit for her, but am torn between getting that or just a jacket w/hat and gloves. Please help me decide. THANKS!

Snowsuit

or

Jacket

She's an infant, right? I'd just get a jacket. She's not going to be playing in the snow and the snowsuits are a pita to get on and off IMO.

What she said

I saw that snowsuit in Gap and it's SUPER thick. I think an infant would probably overheat in that thing in a carseat in a heated car.

I agree - definatly go with a jacket. You can always wait until Dec. and get a snowsuit on sale and have it just in case it snows and you want to take her out in it.

I was going to say the same thing. Snowsuits are really difficult to get an infant into and out of. A jacket worked best for us last winter. Actually, we mostly used the Bundle Me because he was always in the infant carrier and just put a sweater underneath and a hat and gloves. But if we were carrying him or he was in a stroller, we would use the jacket with gloves and hat.

Re: Help me pick a jacket for DD

I am going to say the opposite of most responses and suggest the snowsuit. I always like a snowsuit for an infant if they are already out of the infant seat. If she's still in the infant seat, I would forego the snowsuit and get a quilted carseat cover. IMO though, you don't need a down snowsuit for an infant. Down is so warm and you're really never going to have an infant outside very long in the very cold weather.

I had that coat last year for DD. I actually sold it on ebay a few weeks ago for more than it's selling for in the store, I guess it's a very hot item.

ETA: Is the snowsuit down? I assumed it was bc the jacket is but maybe not..

Re: Help me pick a jacket for DD

I vote for a snowsuit as well. I know on the really bitter cold days last year Marron was in one because I just thought her legs, back, etc would be cold with just a jacket. I didn't buy a down one, or one that would be used in the snow necessarily. It was kind of a polar fleece material that was filled. It was super soft and nice and warm. I do agree with waiting and buying one later in the season when they are on sale. You won't need it early on, probably not til Jan or so.

ETA: I think that jacket will just be too much for your little one. I saw it in the store and it is just so bulky and the hood can really be overpowering for an infant.

OK I vote for neither because are you going to be hanging outside in the cold with her where she needs a coat or snowsuit?
You aren't supposed to have all that extra stuff with them in the car seat. I say dress her in layers and use the bundle me with the infant carrier unless you plan on hanging out outside in the cold and snow.
