Help me finish decorating the nursery
We had the basics done before DS was born - paint (BM Kittery Point Green) and furniture. I ordered his bedding after he was born and we're now trying to fill in the pieces. Since I didn't know if DS was a or I actually have a lamp with a pink shade (I had one in blue and one in pink). We need an area rug and new lamp shades. I have the valances that go with the bedding but DH hasn't gotten around to putting them up yet.
Here are some pics of his room:
Bedding
Boring dresser wall
Pink lamp! (I need to find matching shades - so far PB has them but I don't want to spend that much $$)
Valances need to go up
So, the questions are: 1/ Any suggestions for lamp shades other than PB? I don't want to spend too much $$. Also, do they have to match? Can I just replace the pink floor lamp shade and leave the blue one on his dresser?
2/ Can I do this area rug (with blue border) in his room or is it too blah? If too blah, any suggestions? I would do 3x5 just between the changing table and crib.

Re: Help me finish decorating the nursery
you and i are soo on the same page with regards to everything - from christening to nursery - last night I started to really start working on finishing the nursery up.
BRU sells lampshades, and I think target also has some.
I think the rug you have is fine -
Maybe put a picture of Ryan up over the dresser?

I've checked BRU and Target - no shades that work. Do the shades have to be the same color or could I do a green by the glider and leave the blue on the dresser?

Re: Help me finish decorating the nursery
I think the nursery looks great!
I think the blue rug would be perfect, and it is neutral enough that it will grow with your son.
Ikea has loads of lampshades for next to nothing. Maybe Target has them too?
Some framed photos of your son would look great on the wall. I framed some photos of DD with each of her grandparents.

Re: Help me finish decorating the nursery
I think you could do green, or if you want to be real adventurous, go to a craft store like Michaels or Joanns and buy a plain lampshade and a stencil kit or scraps of cloth and decorate it with sailboats. I'm not terribly crafty, but I might at least go to the craft store and investigate this possiblity.
Also - I think linens and things or Bed Bath beyond has lampshades.

What a great room! I love the built-in bookshelf! I think the rug is great too. I think you can leave the lampshade and get a white one or any color in the bedding really. BTW, LOVE the bedding.

Re: Help me finish decorating the nursery
Thank you - also, DS doesn't have doors on his closet (the previous owners had sliders and I find those to be a PITA (esp with the cubbies I set up in there). I was thinking of doing a nice think curtain on a rod for now. What do you think of the following? Should I stick with a green or do a blue contrasting?
Green gingham (I may break down and get these lamp shades too)
These are the valances
or just a solid?
