Help me embrace color!
My living room is nice, but boring. Dark-ish wood floors, dark leather furniture, cream walls, dark beams on the ceiling, brown curtains, dark wood end table and coffee table, beige-toned Oriental rug with some burgundy running through it. The room is 14x20 with a 12-foot ceiling. It's not dark looking at all, despite all of the brown in there.
What colors should I try to incorporate? I'm starting a collection of picture frames to hang on one wall, but the majority of ones I've gotten so far are in the brown family. I saw a bright green frame in Home Goods and I was drawn to it, but I hesitated because it was out of my comfort zone.
Any inspiration pics? Thoughts?
Here are some pics of my LR before we got our new leather couches and armchairs. (the round table is now gone and the curtains are different. I really need to take newer pics. LOL!

Re: Help me embrace color!
I would keep the molding the natural wood color and find a green color from the rug and put it on in a shad a tad lighter than the carpet color so tonally it is the same but intensity wise it is a little less vibrant.

Re: Help me embrace color!
I think the cream and brown tones are so neutral that you can incorporate almost any color. I think rich, jewel toned colors would work nice, since the cream and browns are warm-toned.
You mentioned there is burgundy in the rug, so maybe incorporate some shades of deep red? I think greens and deep blues would also be great.
If you are really hesitant, start small with accessories that aren't a huge investment. You mentioned a picture frame, which is great. Also, vases, flowers (faux or fresh), a throw blanket, or accent pillows. If you like it, you can build up to more permanent pieces such as curtains, area rugs, or even an upholstered chair or ottoman!
I love color, so I think you should have fun and go for it!

Thank you! I'm going to go back to Home Goods today and see what I can find. I just needed a kick in the arse.

I think incorporating red accents would keep it looking cozy.
