HELP!! Looking to go to Gainesville,FL & having trouble finding non stop flights!
I am not familiar with Florida.
I am looking to go to Gainesville & would much rather a non stop flight.
I also wouldn't mind if we had drive to maybe 2 hours.
Any idea what airports are within 2 hours of Gainesville? I have been searching to no avail on line for awhile!!

I would take either one because really I don't think Jacksonville seems too far...........as long as it is non stop. I was looking a bit more today & I almost think it looks like we'll have to fly to Orlando or Tampa & drive the 2 hours instead
ETA ......I'll leave from either Islip, JFK or LaGuardia!

Maybe on your dates there aren't any direct flights?
These are the direct flights I see with generic dates......
LGA to JAX on Delta
JFK to JAX on jetblue
EWR to JAX on Continental
I know you didn't mention Newark but I put it out there anyway. I didn't see any departing Islip, sorry.

my parents live in gainesville, so i would say I'm a pro...
JAX is the closest, I have sometimes gotten a cheap flight and rented a car for the 1.5-2 hr drive to GNV. Flying directly to GNV has gotten real expensive. There is a airport shuttle from gnv to jax for about $65 roundtrip let me know if you need the link

We just flew on JetBlue from JFK to Jacksonville, it was very painless, even with a slight delay on each flight and a 3 month old

I went to college in Gainesville... so I flew back and forth from LI all the time...
I always flew from Islip into Orlando... Islip is A LOT closer to me, so that is why I always choose Islip... Southwest would be the airline to check out for that... Gainesville is about 1.5-2hrs north of Orlando... the drive is a breeze...
If you wanted to flying into Gainesville, it is going to be expensive... check out US Airways... they were one of the main airlines... usually most of the flights transfer in Charlotte...
