Help... I'm in hotdog he**!!!!!!
DS is 15 months old. In May we went to Floriday on vacation and in a pinch he had to have a hotdog for lunch a couple of days. WELL, now he will eat NOTHING for lunch or dinner unless it's a hotdog. Anything else goes on the floor. This has been going on for a solid month and a half.
Any suggestions on what I can do? All of his old favorites are out the window. Pasta Pickups and meat sticks FORGET IT now. And he used ot gobble down the whole container of them at one sitting.
What do I do? I'm worried about him only eating hotdogs, but at the same time, the kid needs to eat and I think he's too young to reason. What do we do???
TIA- I know this may seem trivial but it's REALLY bothering me for some reason.

They sell good hotdogs and turkey dogs at Trader Joes. I would only buy the good ones.. I stilldo not think its a good idea to get him stuckon them like Janice said...just say there isn't anymore... When my oldest two were little.. I gave them the bottom shelve of the fridge-ll good snacks and food went there--they were allowed to pick what they wanted--they could graze all dayt if they wanted. Kids want some control and food is one of the first things they want control of... take him shopping==show him a bunch of good things and let him pick it opout and do the fridge thing. Max haaaaaaaaaates hving to be fed.I cannot give yogurt to a 15 month old.. so I froze the entire container into pops and they think they r cool eating icepops for breakfast or snack.

See, I DO let him pick out his own food, he has his OWN cabinet and area in the fridge. BUT, when I put it on his tray he WILL NOT eat it unless it's a hotdog...... What other real food can I try? The kid literally gags on chicken nuggets.......... It's driving me INSANE...

Try to remember- no child will willingly starve himself. Just stop offering hotdogs. Offer all his old favorites. He'll eat eventually.....

He won't starve - you have to take back the reigns and show him who is boss. Stop giving him hotdogs, and stop buying them. Sure he'll put up a fight, but eventually he'll get hungry and will eat something else.

He won't. He might skip that meal, but he won't starve. They don't need as much food as they actually eat.

I agree. He won't starve. I would cut the hot dogs out immediately & only offer them sparingly.
Use the phrase "All gone" with a sad sigh. They seem to get that. It worked with Joseph at 20 months when he was crying for his pacifier.
Right now I'm trying to wean a 6 year old off peanut butter for lunch so I feel your pain. What I decided to do is if he doesn't eat the turkey sandwich, the next day he doesn't get a snack. I know it's mean but he can't live on peanut butter.
