Help I do not know what to do! Allstate sent me a letter of canceling of my Home Owners
I am freaking out here... I do not know what to do. Help me. the house is still in Keith's name and I do not know what i have to to do. I am so scared

I do not have the house in my name. i know of none of the details of the house(size ect)

you should have a policy that list what you have and don't have. and you really should update the records for the house.
are they not renewing your policy or canceling it for some other reason?

i have no clue , it was just a general letter saying they are not renewing me. as for the house not being in my name , i have tried numerous times handing in the paper work and always something was wrong, the packet alone is about 75 pages long. and a lot of legal terms

In your particular case you may want to look at State Farm and deal with a State Farm agent in person. Make an appointment with one.

with the help of one other poster and the agent for State farm here on LIF. I will hopefully figure this out. it is just so very scary to not have home owners.
i have never had to deal with any of this what so ever. Keith did all the insurance stuff. seince he has been gone, all i did was pay the bill and made the one claim 2 years ago after the cesspool collapsed. I just do not get it

All you should need to do is take your insurance paperwork (along with the binder) to your next insurance agent and they should pull all the relevant info.
Trust me when I say there are probably others out there in the same situation with even less knowledge than you have. These agents know what questions to ask.

Its typically the paperwork you get when you first get the insurance. Lists all your coverage limits and such.
You can always ask them to resend it to you, or pull it online like somebody else said.

Regarding the house ownership- are you in NYS? Did you use an attorney to handle the estate? S/He should have helped you take care if this. (I'm not an atty- but I work as a reader/clearance officer at a NYS title company. If you have any questions and the property is in New York, I can explain a little bit about it to you.)

Allstate is dropping almost all of their homeowners policies...I got dropped as well. I have found a new company and have to set it up.

I do have a Lawyer for a lawsuit in Keiths name.
They got me a "estate" for the case, and i was able to cash a few small checks that where in his name. and not to mention the numerous times i tried to get the house in my name. please if you can help me get the house in my name it would be GREAT! i have had such a hard time with all this paper work.

Allstate has been going through massive non renewals for the past few years...Especially of policy holders who dont have other policies with the company. I believe they got in trouble for it a few years back.
Ive been out of the field for quite a few years now but I might be able to help some. Let me know...

I agree. You need an attorney who specializes in estates and trusts.
Keith died w/o a will? Then you may have letters of administration. (And depending on the heirship situation, that may be what is causing the complications for you.) Basically the only power you as an Administratrix is the power that the Court grants you. So if you want to sell the house or sign a deed conveying title to yourself, you need a Court Order. An estate atty would be better skilled at advising you if this is feasible given the particulars of your case.
Since the "estate" technically owns the house, maybe you can obtain insurance in the estate's name. (And if any type of authorization is needed, since maintenance of the house benefits the estate, I would suspect that you wouldn't have trouble obtaining that-- but I am just guessing here. My area is really the conveyance and ownership insurance of real property and that is it.)

The name on the house/deed or policy, shouldn't be a problem, if needed to switch over to another company.
