help, HSG on Wednesday.
Hey,
I havent posted much on the boards in a while. Last year after 2 miscarries(the second one ending up at winthrop) i had to take a break and joined ww. Anyways, I went to my Dr. for a checkup and he's sending me for a HSG on Wednesday Morning. I read some posts on here so Im feeling a bit better about it.... but 2 quesions...
1. how early should I take an advil the day of.
2. some people had a spotting thing after- does it mess up the dates of the next cycle starting? How long till the pain/spotting goes away after it?

About an hour before the procedure

The spotting lasts a day or two max after the procedure and has no effect on the cycle start date. Your cycle starts based on your natural (or forced) period.

I had 3 HSG's. For each HSG, I took my pain meds as soon as I got to the doctors office. It was at least a 20 min wait for the procedure so the meds kicked in nicely by then. For me, the pain was slight (I know for others it was quite more intense)
The bleeding/spotting did not interfere with our cycles. I was lucky to just have a day or so of bleeing.

I took 4 ADVIL about 2 hrs. before my appt., then I had a long wait so mine was a bit more painful, but it lasted like 3-4 minutes and I had no pain at all after. I drove myself there and went to work. The spotting was slight and only that same day.

I took 3 advil before I left the house, itabout 30-40 minutes before the actual test. I did have quite a bit of spotting and my ovulation was almost 2 weeks late, so I had a long cycle that month, but now they are back on track. GL

i took 1ibuprofen a half an hour before. i had cramping and spotting after. Good luck!!

Justed wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow. Try to stay relaxed, it will be much easier. I tried to use deep yoga breathing to relax me and also used imagery to pretend I was somewhere else.

thanks, i feel a bit better knowing alot of people on here have had it(and gotten through it)... I shold have an hour at home before I go back to work after it just to unwind.
hopefully they dont find anything and it puts my mind at ease for the next time around.

well, i went this morning- didnt eat b/c i was nervous & took 2 motrin before leaving the house....
went to nassau radiological in hempstead- the nurse and xray guy were so friendly there. Pain felt comperable to a pap exam, not that bad, and he didnt see any blockage
