Help, Growing out my Bangs Hell......

I've had bangs since I've had hair. I've NEVER liked my hair - coincidence? I think not

I have everyone who knows me placing bets that I won't last two weeks before I chop them short (and they ARE "short" by most standards already, but I like them touching the top of my eyebrow and now they are just below my eyebrow). So the grow out has begun!

What do I do? They are by no means long enough to tuck behind my ear... They are too short to clip back without looking silly. I have a HUGE forehead, so I want the hair to come down across my forehead in a side swept bang look....

Any suggestions? Right now I am wearing a headband just to keep them back, but that's because I am in my house and not going anywhere! I want to be able to go out in public during this transition. Do I go get it cut and have it "blended" with the rest of my hair???

That is until I give up and cut them short again. Thanks for any suggestions!

it will make it easier if you side-part your hair - you can really have a side-swept bang with a middle part!

is your hair straight or wavy? do you blow it out or let it air dry?

Can you wear them to the side with your headband???

I cut bangs a few years ago and HATED them. I wore them clipped to the side under my "side" hair until they grew out.

NEVER again!

I already do side part! And I can go either side since I have my hairdresser cut when its parted in the middle, but I NEVER part it in the middle....

I guess my trouble is that they are short, so trying to sweep them to the side isn't working.

My hair is pin straight, I do blow dry every now and then if I don't just wear it up.... If I scrunch when wet, it can be a little wavy, but by the end of the day, it looks like I have bedhead.

okay in my opinion....i think they are too short....... sooooo in the meantime you can cut them to go to one side or do a upsidedown u shaped bang so it starts to get longer on the sides and eventually do angles on the sides to blend in with the bangs....this is what i would do if you were in my chair :) you have such pretty hair but the blunt cut and short bangs is taking away from how fab your hair can really be!!!!!! you can do it...step away from the scissors!!!!! :)

At the moment I think they look fine- just work with them as they grow. For me, the worst was the time between them being between the bridge of my nose and the bottom of my nose- too long but too short to put behind my ears. That will be the toughest time- if you get through that, it'll be fine! I used headbands and bobby pins. I found that cutting my hair a little shorter also kept me from looking like a third grader when I had to clip them to the side.

you do have gorgeous hair Trish, and your bangs will grow out quickly and very well. for right now i would just include them in your part and sweep them to the side. add a clip if they bother you. in a few weeks you should be able to get a trim so they are angled more like a side-swept bang should be!

I've had bangs for probably 4 years now and one hair the guy cut my bangs short like yours. It was so bad because my hair has a wave and well it was just a mess
Anyway, I gathered my bangs to the middle and would either twist it once or twice and then put a few bobby pins (usually 2 going in opposite directions) or I would use a brown colored metal clip (the ones that are a triangle shape and you pop it open and close). Also, I would follow the part (if it is on the side which I think it is) down to your bangs and take the larger section and try clip it underneath your hair on the side like another poster mentioned. I do this now plus it will help train your bangs to go that way if you keep the part.

Thank you! I know they are too short. That pic was actually about 6 weeks ago, and right after my last trim, so I knew then that I needed to grow them out. They don't help my fat face either! Right now they are down to my eyes when I leave them straight...

I think the hardest part of me clipping them back is that it's the shock factor. I've had bangs my entire life, and I am 37 years old.. All of a sudden, you see me with this big forehead, fat face and it's like WHOA! So I need to do it gradually...

I am DETERMINED to do this (can't tell you how many times I said I would, and lasted about a week!)....

I will celebrate with a cut and color since I need one badly!

I have had bangs and grown them out a million time. It takes time, but it will be worth it!
