Help from those that are good at baking treats
I need help from those of you who are savvy at making chocolate treats/baking...
I am making Minion Rice Krispie treats for my son's birthday party. Basically it's a rice krispie treat dipped into chocolate candy melts and then I put on a candy eye. I bought some black decorating gel to outline the eye and make the googles of the Minion and it looks great but I found that the gel doesn't turn hard, which is not good because I wanted to put them in treat bags to hand out as favors. What else can I use that will dry hard?

What about melted chocolate in a piping bag with a really thin tip?

Or use a mini m & m. Glue it with a little chocolate and it will stick

this.
buy the darkest chocolate and add black food coloring... black can be so hard to get.
use a piece of parchment paper made into a cone and the the tiniest part of the tip cut off, so you can have a nice fine line.
you won't need much of the black chocolate since it's just for the googles.
please share pictures when they are finished

I would go to Michael's or A.C. Moore and look for black decorators icing. You should be able to find a small tube and it should dry hard.

Thanks- I actually got the decorating gel from AC Moore but maybe I got the wrong one. I will have to try the black chocolate melts, makes sense. Thanks!

You don't want gel if you want it to harden. You want the decorating icing. the icing hardens up.

Re: Help from those that are good at baking treats
If I am reading this correctly and you are dipping the rice krispy treat into chocolate to cover it, the eye should stick right to the chocolate. Just put it on while it is wet - before refrigerating

Yup the candy eye is not the problem- it's the piping around the eye and to make the goggles. I used the wrong type of decorating material.
