Help for my cousin
My cousin is 27 years old. She has a 3 year old son and she has been trying to have another baby. She has had 4 miscarriages in a row. One of them, the baby had trisomy 13. She keeps losing them around 8 weeks gestation. This past week, she lost another. She is on progesterone during her pregnancies. She has been tested for clotting factor and it was negative. The doctor has basically told her that she was lucky to have had one healthy pregnancy and basically there is nothing they can do.
She lives in Maine so she can't use local doctors but does anyone have any recommendations for other tests or anything she can do? It was so horrible to be with her last week and see her pain

Re: Help for my cousin
I am so sorry for your cousin. Dr.Braverman specializes in multiple losses. I know she lives a good distance away, but he does do phone consults with people and could work out a protocol with her where she would get monitored out where she lives. I know he treats people from a distance.

Re: Help for my cousin
She should look up a reproductive immunologist in her area. If she goes to an REI, she should make sure that they also do immunology as they may not and may just do the clotting w/u which she probably already had.
So sorry to hear about her losses Given that history, she really is lucky to have had that baby. Sounds like a miracle.

ITA.
Please send her lots of hugs and well wishes. Miscarriage is a very difficult road and grieving and healing is very important next to getting the answers as to why. Thanks for providing her with the sympathy and support she needs.
