help for constipated baby
DS is 2.5 months old & is super constipated (hasn't pooped in 24 hrs which is a long time for him) & can't sleep. He's crying a lot & I feel so bad. This has been happening lately, but is there anything I can give him or do differently to help him out?? He is EBF.

Take a rectal thermometer and "take his temperature". That's helped DS a few times, do that and then bicycle stretches (like reverse crunches where you move the knees up to the belly/chest). That has worked wonders on a few occasions for us, once so fast that, quite literally, I couldn't get the thermometer out fast enough.

Bicycle his legs, give gripe water and/or gas drops.
It's perfectly normal for EBF babies to go as much as a week without pooping and pooping patterns/consistencies change.

Oh yeah. Ds would be fine during the week, then the weekend would come and no poop! Then Monday morning and MASSIVELY diapy. Ah the joys.

I remember DD (who was on both BM and formula) suddenly didn't poop for a couple of days and I started freaking out. And then for awhile she'd only go every couple of days. ANd then all of a sudden, she was pooping ALL THE TIME. And then back to like once a day. And the consistencies changed, and the colors changed. I couldn't keep up lol. I was just happy the poopsplosions (pooping during every single diaper change) from her early newborn days were over.

I agree. Around 2-3 months, my EBF DS would go 14 days without pooping, but he was never uncomfortable from it.

You can also give a little diluted prune juice in a bottle. That usually works.
