Help ...DD first birthday and no theme yet
DD will be one in the middle of July so of course we will have it in our backyard and have a BBQ but I do not have a theme. With DS it was easy .. he seemed to favor Elmo but my DD just favors a doll and likes to watch this 10 minute show on Disney in the moring called Go Baby. Anyway, how would you decorate? What did you do for invitations?

Help ...DD first birthday and no theme yet
I just picked a color scheme and went with that. It came out really cute and was easy to add lots of pinterest ideas and other decorations I found that went with the colors. I actually bought her dress first and matched everything to those colors. I got some simple invites at party city rather than getting something made.

I just did a First Birthday Princess theme- if you can call it that. I just got all the plates and decorations in that theme from Party City.

Re: Help ...DD first birthday and no theme yet
I love my old school roots so DD1's theme was (vintage) Strawberry Shortcake and DD2's theme was Care Bears. I do NOT suggest going this route as it's not easy to find things. lol.
Other ideas I loved:
Cupcakes (so many things you can do with this theme including have the kids/guests decorate their own cupcakes)
Mod monkey pink/green plaid
Look Who's One (Owl theme)
Minnie Mouse
Cowgirl (just think of the adorable outfit she could wear! lol)

Re: Help ...DD first birthday and no theme yet
For DDs first birthday, my theme was PINK. At one, she wasn't into anything really... So we just did everything pink. I loved it . So easy to do, too!

Re: Help ...DD first birthday and no theme yet
DD wasn't into anything specific at that age so we did a Ladybug theme. I heard Ladybugs are good luck so I went with that theme to wish my DD a lifetime of good luck.
For her 2nd birthday we are doing a cowgirl theme since it will also be a BBQ. It was a toss up between that and Luau, so I am sure her next party will be a Luau.

Re: Help ...DD first birthday and no theme yet
DD is also a summer baby and I had a backyard party for her 1st. We did a Pink Lemonade theme and loved it. My dad even made a lemonade stand from directions on Pinterest and I had 2 drink dispensers on it for the party, 1 w/ pink lemonade & 1 w/ iced lemon water. DD wore a pink & yellow tutu outfit, and I special ordered a bib w/ a pink 1 and some cute lemons from etsy. I used mason jars for centerpieces w/ floating candles and pink, yellow and aqua ribbon. Pinterest & etsy have lots of ideas for this theme. :)
