Help! All he does is cry while he's trying to eat!
So for the past few days, every time DS tries to take his bottle, all hr does is cry. He'll start off ok then within 30 seconds he's crying! Then he'll try it again and the same thing happens! This will go on for about ten minutes until finally he takes it with no problems. Its not gas bc he's perfectly fine before he starts feeding, its not until after he starts that he starts crying. I dont know what to do!

Could it be acid reflux? Is he fighting the bottle- like trying to get away from it? Arching his back? Does he spit up a lot?
DD did this for a bit- and spit up TONS- until we switched her to an AR formula.

He does try to get away from it but there's no spit up problems. They are already on Similac Sensitive for gas and fussiness bc of my DD. If it was acid reflux is there anything else to try besides switching the formula? Like something I could do right this minute? LOL

Re: Help! All he does is cry while he's trying to eat!
The Dr suggested a slow flow nipple- if you aren't already on one, so they don't swallow so fast and also feeding on an incline. Other than that it's usually a formula switch and if it's really bad some meds like zantac.

Believe iot or not, I was actually suggesting trying the next flow up...
My DS went through something very similar ( he would turn his head away from the bottle and actually get quite p!ssed off )...Once I upped his flow, he did much much better ( he was on playtex disposables)
My DD on the other hand, is 23 months old and still on level 1 nipples ( yes, she still takes a bottle )

That happened with DS too. He was getting pi$$ed because it wasn't coming out fast enough for him. Switched nipples and all was good after that...Good luck!

This sounds like Acid Reflux to me. Same thing happened w/my DD and now she is on Zantac and MUCH MUCH better.
Zantac is by prescription...Talk to your ped.!

Re: Help! All he does is cry while he's trying to eat!
My DD had silent reflux which means the acid comes up, but she swallows it so it burns right back down which means no spit up so I wouldn't rule it out. There is a similac for reflux (I think its RX?) which i guess you could try now but I would bring it up to your ped, even if you try to get them to squeeze you in and try something they might prescribe. DD is on Axid and taking regular similac advanced.

Re: Help! All he does is cry while he's trying to eat!
Thanks ladies! I called the ped for advise and they are actually able to see him tonight. Hopefully whatever it is he can give me something right away for it. I hate seeing him like this every time he eats !
