Help- ?

As I stated in another posted- Ryan has diarrhea and vomitting (we think- its a reaction to his shot- since the same thing happened the last time he got this vaccination)

I cant keep anything in him... and Im worried about dehydration...

He did eat breakfast this morning, and maybe half of 2 bottles w/o throwing up- but NOTHING has stayed in since 11:30am...

I bought pedialyte.... how much can I give him???

Should I try and give him anything else....

He is 7months, and is not running a fever...

TIA

Re: Help- ?

At this point, I would give him any liquid I possibly can. Even with throwing up, he is still absorbing some.

(((Hugs))) Marissa, this must be difficult to see.

Re: Help- ?

I would give him two ounces at a time in the beginning to see if it stays down. Maybe every half hour and increase from there. Also I found that my son preferred the clear pedialyte more. If he doesn't keep anything down by tonight/tomorrow morning I would call the doctor. But I hope he feels better soon.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would say no. If he is still throwing up, you need him to absorb what he can. Like I said, just keep liquids down. He needs the electrolytes more than anything.

One trick I know from my background...pinch the back of the hand. If the skin doesn't go back right away, he's dehydrated and immediately seek professional care.

Re: Help- ?

Honestly, I am not 100% sure because your son is under a year, but I don't think there is a limit. Maybe you can call the dr just to double check? I know that when my ds was sick my doc never gave me a limit. Plus it wasn't like he was drinking tons of it anyway.

I'm sure his little body got some of the nutrients. Just keep offering. I hate when mine are sick - and now that I'm becoming so attached...I hate when yours is too.

Re: Help- ?

I don't have any suggestions but I hope he feels better soon!

We aren't doing 7 month shots --- the dr said we don't need to come back until 9 months after last month's visit.

What were his stats?

Re: Help- ?

I think it is fine since it has only been a day, but if he still can't keep anything down by morning definitely give the doctor a call.

Re: Help- ?

First of all.. hugs! He can have up to 32 oz of Pedialyte in 24 hours. Try to not give him formula and replace his bottles with Pedialyte. It sounds like he's gotten some liquid in him but just watch for signs of dehydration...
