Re: Anyone have experience with retroplacental hematoma??

I had this, although my doctor didn't use this term. Basically from what I have read on retroplacental hematomas, it is between the placental and the uterus. I bled from about 5 weeks to about 11 weeks. It resolved on its own thankfully and by 12 weeks they didnt see it on the sono. At the time though, I was told not to have sex, exercise, walk too much, lift anything heavy and walk up too many steps.

How far along are you? I hope it resolves quickly! Good luck! i think it is very common but also scary!

ETA: I just saw in your other post that you are 13 weeks. Does the doctor know how large the hematoma is?

glad ot hear everything worked out Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was told a i have a subchronic hematoma - not sure what the difference is but I was told not to worry that its somewhat common. I was also told I can continue to bleed throughout the pregnancy and if i do, just call up and come in for an ultrasound to keep checking on things

Thanks! How far along are you now? Are you still bleeding? What type of restrictions did your doctor give? I just went up and down my stairs twice and a gush came out.

im only 9 weeks. the bleeding stopped this morning thankfully (started around 11pm last night). i was told no Chat Icon and just to take it easy - nothing specific. we dont have stairs to walk up so i dont have to worry about that. i have a 8 month old and was told i can still pick her up and play normally with her which is a relief.
