Hello - New to board

Hi Everyone

me & DH have been trying to conceive for about a year. unfortunately, we are no spring chickens (over 40) which is making it a bit challenging. just started going to LI IVF to speed the process along. its a bit overhelming.

QQ... went for my Day 3 sonogram & blood work. was hoping to start clomid. but received a message that not to. unfortunately, i couldn't understand the message. she talking too fast. she said something was slightly elevated & that the doctor was going to review my blood work tomorrow and i would probably start tomorrow.

any idea what may postphone my clomid start... i guess you can say i'm anxious

Welcome - hope you stay is short and sweet. I am a recently graduated LIIVF patient and I was really happy with them. Estrogen being high may cause a delay in start of Clomid. Did you have any larger follicles on your sono?

I feel some mixed emotions about FSH levels. Mine were at 10 and they thought i was going to be a poor responder. they ended up retrieving 30 eggs! AND, most were good quality. I am now 4 weeks pregnant.

i have also heard of other women on here who have had FSH levels or 12-15 and they are pregnant with twins!

I would definitely take it with a grain of salt, and try not to get too uspet over it - your RE will work closely with you and will absolutely get you on a good path towards pregnancy!

I too am older (39) and have been ttc since 37 with no success. My FSH, per my RE, is like that of a teen ager, last cycle it was 2 on CD2 and I still needed to do IVF. Everyone is different. I have heard of some natural remedies that may bring down your FSH, I guess it does not hurt to try, but definitely disucuss them with your RE. I was told the DHEA can help with low ovarian reserve, this you can get OTC; it comes in 25 and 50 mg. The other thing I've read on the board is wheatgrass is also supposed to help.

Welcome. Don't sweat it.

Mine FSH at the highest was 18.2 and there are ways to lower it.

Also, I would think that if you are over 40 the RE may want to do something a bit more aggressive than Clomid.

I don't know what your plans are but if you want to fast track- Clomid with IUI is not a fast track for older women.

Maybe it's a good thing that you can't start the Clomid. The doctor needs to plan some other protocol for you.

Hi! Welcome and I hope your stay here is really short and sweet. Like what SMP123 have said, there are a few women on this board that has elevated FSH who had successful IVF experience with twins.
I also recently found out that i have elevated FSH of 12.7. My RE advice me to go straight to IVF for quickest way to pregnancy. Accordingly to her, starting me with Clomid and IUI may not be the most ideal route for me and may have adverse effect. Of course, everyone is different so definitely listen to what your RE has planned for you.
There are definitely ways to lower FSH but it's controversial because some professional say that your FSH is only as good as your highest number since they do fluctuate from months to months. I started taking Wheatgrass juice shots sold at the Wholefoods in the freezer section because supposedly it can lower FSH. Acupuncture can also lower it. I just started my first session yesterday so I don't really know the effect of it. Definitely ask your RE about it.
