height for pendants?? (with pics)

Looking at these pictures - which one looks correct to you guys? The high one or the low? the high one is 29" off the countertop.... the low one is 18"...

I think we have to go with the higher one, but instinctively I feel like it's too high (but maybe that's cause I'm short so it's taller than me and I think it should be at eye level???)

I believe pendants are different heights from the floor, depending upon the area they are located and what goes on there.... so, if it's over a low couch / sitting area, it will be lower than if it is in a kitchen work area where people normally are standing.

I must confess... both me and my husband are fairly tall (5'9" and 6'3").... so we tend to increase the height of chandeliers, just so there aren't any headaches ) To me, the low light looks way to low.... I guess the good rule of thumb is for you and your spouse to stand by the counter...... the bottom of the light should be above your heads, and not shining horizontally into your eyes....

I like the higher one too. You don't want someone who is sitting to be blocked off from view from someone who is standing behind the counter, you know? And it will illuminate the area better, the higher it is.

Great kitchen btw, it's a beauty.
