Heartbroken- Need help!

I just bought a puggle/daschund mix who is 3 months old. I paid over $600 for her-I have the papers to prove it. My husband is allergic and my two pits arent crazy about her either. If anyone knows anyone who would like her all I'm asking is $500-cage, 4 months of can and dry food, carrier cage, toys, sweaters, and a 5 year free vet care guarantee. She is a sweet heart, very playful, I am in tears writing this, IIabsolutely adore her but unfortunatley I cant get rid of the husband over the dog. Please FM me if anyone has any interest. Again, please dont judge me I am a dog advocate, I love animals so please dont castrate me, I just lost my dog in August from cancer and we put her through a year of chemo-I didnt just get a dog on a whim, my husband was well aware he just breaks out into hivesw from her. Please, Please someone help me find her a home Chat Icon

Re: Heartbroken- Need help!

I would question your husband's allergies first. If you have two pits and he isn't allergic to them I would find it odd that he would be allergic to this dog. I would bet there is some other allergen affecting him since the pits don't bother him. If that is the case then maybe you can find a way for everyone to coexist together. If you are set on finding a new home, you may want to lower your price. $500 is a lot to ask for a mixed breed dog. Good luck.

Re: Heartbroken- Need help!

If you bought it from a breeder they shoudl re-home for you. Most responsible breeders are very concerned about where their dogs are homed, and do not want them in shelters, etc.

Also if it is a Pug mix, have the vet check for demodetic mange, as it is a common breed issue among pugs and can trigger allergies.

Re: Heartbroken- Need help!

Also something to think about...I was HIGHLY allergic to my cat when I first got her.
Sneezed my head off, eyes itched and watered, felt like general sh!t around her.
I dealt with it by taking allergy pills for the first few weeks and eventually I built up a tolerance to her and I'm 100% fine around her now.

That happens a lot...if you are around the animal a lot, your body's threshold for the allergan will rise and the symptoms will subside. It's the same concept as allergy shots where they inject you with the allergen that is bothering you so you build up a tolerance.

Just something else to consider...

DH has dog allergies, which is why we went with hypoallergenic dogs. When we first brought Denver home, he spent 2-3 sneezing, feeling like he had a cold, etc. He took allergy pills for 2-3 weeks then stopped and has been fine ever since.

I agree with this too. It is probably the place to start.
