Heart Rates
I know its an old wives tale - but what are yours and what are you having? Mine has been in the 170 to 175 range.

How far along are you???
My baby's heartrate was high in the beginning then started lowering every week. It's on an average 138-140 and it's a boy. With my son it was the same. So the old wives tale was right for me!

It depends on how far along you are, but the heart rates typically start out high and then gradually lower a bit every week or so --
At my 6 week appointment, the baby's HB was 125;
At 9 weeks it was 180!
12 weeks, it was 172 or so ...(at the doc's office)
When I got the doppler at around 12 weeks, it started in the low 170s. Then went to the 160s.. Now at nearly 17 weeks its generally in the high 150s.. Last night it was 158 
I still think I'm having a  and at every monthly appointment, the nurses keeps telling me the same thing

KitKat... At 11.5 weeks the rate will still change. I would of said that then I was having a girl. Then the weeks to follow the rate dropped dramatically.

What is the old wives tale you are referring to? If the heart beat is high do they think that indicates the gender?

I've heard below 140 is a boy and above 140 is a girl.
I was 149 at my last appointment, so even though it's a myth that it's a girl, it's a little too close for my taste
