heart rate with sonogram vs. doppler
hey girls,
i'm about 10w5d. today i had an appointment and the dr. tried to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. Last week we heard it. This week we didn't.
Then he got the sonogram and we heard it on the sonogram.
I was sooo relieved.
Then i was driving home and thinking..... the heartbeat last week with the doppler was so much faster than the heartbeat today on the sonogram. does that seem strange? When you heard your baby's heartbeat on the doppler and on the sonogram, did they sound like they were going at similar rates? the dr. didn't seem worried... i go back in 4 weeks, just like i would if things were going normally... so i guess i shound't be worried... but i can't stop thinking about it.

Re: heart rate with sonogram vs. doppler
The heart rate will change constantly. I am high-risk so I see my doctor just about every week and he checks it every time I see him. My baby's heart rate went from the 160's to the 140's... to the 120's and back up again. It is totally normal. My doctor told me it has something to do with the system that is controlling the heart at the time (I don't remember exactly how he explained it... sorry).

Re: heart rate with sonogram vs. doppler
No problem!! I forgot to say that as long as it is betweeen 120 - 180 it is fine (some say 160... I think it depends on the doctor).

Re: heart rate with sonogram vs. doppler
Our baby's h/b has definitely fluctuated from appt to appt. My doc said its normal - a number of factors can affect the h/b. As long as it's in the normal range (which my doc said is about 120 - 160) all is fine!

Re: heart rate with sonogram vs. doppler
My doc didn't even use the doppler until after my Level II at 20 weeks. Up until that point, we saw it on the sonogram, so I didn't really worry too much about it.

My babies heart rate fluctuate's a lot too, this is apparently pretty normal so if your doctor seems fine with it, I wouldn't worry about it.
