Hearing test
So my daughter just turned 2 last week and is speech delayed. She gets speech twice a week,. She had her. 2 year wellness visit and doctor said they always suggest a hearing test for their speech delayed patients. She said she's almost sure it will be fine since she answers to her name and has never had any major issues with her ears. How do they give a hearing test to a 2 year old? She has very few words and is quite active. I live in Massapequa. Suggestions on doctors?

I had to take my DS for a hearing test. If I remember correctly, you go into a room & the audiologist (from outside) will start playing music, sounds, voices. The has to make movement towards the sounds. My ds sat on my lap and it went pretty fast.

My pediatricians office has a machine that they attach to the ear and it can tell if your child has hearing issues. The child does not have to do anything other than put the machine to the ear for thirty seconds. We are in nj.

That's how my ped's office does it. It was a routine test at age 2 or 3, can't remember.
They just put these things on or in her ears and it sends a signal. If the signal comes back, they know they can hear. Something like that.
It was super simple.
I remember when DD was born she had a hearing test in the hospital. I know because on the little card in her bassinet with her name, dr name etc. they put a little sticker that said, I had a hearing test.
It had to be something similar... like a signal test.

Hearing test
It has to do with the anatomy of the ear. The machines can tell if there are issues with the reception of sound. They give all newborns hearing tests as well. I would ask where they would recommend, I would go to an audiologist.

Hearing test
AJ sat on my lap.. they'd make a sound and she'd turn to it. She was 'rewarded' or it was acknowledged with a monkey that light up and clapped cymbals. Then they'd do it again. Left right and straight. I kept still.
I have moderate to severe hearing loss. I've been taking these test for as long as I can remember. I know its important for the person being tested to have absolute silence.
The pressure test was super easy with the little probe. Sends a signal through and back like echo location. Super easy and quick.
Since then they've moved up to on her own in the room with headsets. You could say this is how AJ got her confidence of doing stuff solo. I didn't want to scare her with my own fears (I used to be claustrophobic and holy crap but those sound proof rooms TERRIFIED ME!) so I made it seem the most ordinary thing in the world.
We got to an ENT (because she needed tubes) and there they have an audiologist to administers the hearing tests.

Hearing test
We went when my son was 15 months old.
We sat in a sound proof room where first the had two "noise makers" in either corner. They would make one play and see if my son turned to the noise.
Then we had to put ear phones on him and they would have a small sound play in either ear and see if my son turned to the sound. The sounds here were much softer and high pitched.
Then the ran some sort of test where they stuck this headphone/tube thing in his ear - but my kid screamed to the point of vomiting during this test, so whatever reading they were trying to get never fully came out. I think it was to test the inner part of the ear.
