Healthy Take Out??

Lately I don't have the time, energy or patience to cook.

Plus, everything I usually cook is chicken and I haven't been able to even LOOK at chicken since I got pregnant.

What do you do for quick healthy meals?

I seriously have to stop eating cheeseburgers every night. Chat Icon

Re: Healthy Take Out??

I order from the healthy or "diet" section from a Chinese restaurant. Just make sure they don't use MSG.

If DH wants pizza I'll get pizza with lots of veggies added or a slice and a salad.

Maybe a veggie stir fry? You can get them frozen and ready to cook.

We keep "emergency ravioli" in the fridge for when all else fails.

I have a couple of stand by meals that we have frequently. Each makes enough for the 2 of us for dinner for 2 nights.
1) Mac & Broc
Cook 1 box enriched or whole wheat ziti according to direction. Cut Broccoli florets into about 1 inch pieces from 2 bunches broccoli. When pasta has 6 minutes left to cook add broccoli to the pot. While it cooks put 1tsp minced garlic about 1/8 tsp black pepper in 1/8 to 1/4 C olive oil, microwave for 45 seconds. Drain pasta and broccoli when pasta is done. Mix in oil mixture and then add 1/2C to 1C (depending on your taste) Parmesan cheese. Allow to sit 5-10 minutes then serve. - This uses only 1 pot and cooks in the amount of time it takes to make pasta.

2) South West Mac & Cheese - this is a weight watchers recipe with Ground turkey , chili powder, mac 7 cheese, if interested FM and I'll send the recipe, cooks in about 20-25 minutes.

Re: Healthy Take Out??

I make beans and macaroni

A really big dinner salad with anything on it-cheese, cucumber, carrots, meat i like etc.

Grilled cheese and soup

Boca burgers-the chik'n kind or regular
Garden burgers
with homemade oven fries

sausage in the oven with black beans and rice

i slice up london broil, saute it then make cheddar, bbq and steak hogies-DH loves this one

All this takes less than 30 min from start to table.

Take out wise-I eat subway turkey sandwiches, grilled chicken from wendy's and chili, salads, baked pototoes with just sour cream.
I don't like chinese food, but i love pizza, I could eat it 3 times a day.

I have more, but they have chicken in them :)
