He is sick isnt he?!!
DS is 6 months old and I cant figure out if he is sick ... I am thinking he is and I just don't want to accept it cause we leave to drive to Florida on Wednesday night
it started yesterday morning he spit up an ok amount during his feeding ok can be normal but then he did it again a few hours later ate he was fine right before his third bottle he spit up again (he eats every 4 hours and is only on formula) gave him his bottle he didn't finish it. He was being held and he had a somewhat "violent" cough and then spit/threw up (this time it was more than other times) gave him a neb treatment he was fine spit up again randomly a couple hours later
This morning he wakes up ate had an explosive diaper, kind of like diarrhea (I should say he only poops once a day its never really solid and sometimes he wont even go for a day) no real spit up. A couple hours after his second bottle again somewhat "violent" cough and then spit/threw up (again more than other times).
Fine for the rest of the day for all other bottles didn't really finish any of them.
Just now right after bath and before his last bottle spit up again and then another somewhat "violent" cough and then spit/threw up (again more than other times). Doesn't smell and this was completely clear. (none of the spit ups big or small smelt) Do infant throw up actually smell? (you think I would remember but I don't  )
Now he's happy and smiling during all this. He only cried for a second after the "violent" coughs.
so is this a stomach virus just an upset stomach (my fear of the stomach virus is I have 3 yo DD and husband who I don't want to get it!! )
reasons I am questioning if he is sick or not is that he has reflux he has been on the same medicine dose since 8 weeks. DH has been forgetting to give him his doses sometimes  could this be his reflux acting up could he need a higher dose dr asked me last time (a couple months ago) if I thought he needed more but I said he was doing fine. ETA : we were giving h gas drops every bottle and stopped cause DH thought he didn't really need it anymore. I also think he is teething cause he chewing in everything and drooling a lot!
I'm grasping aren't I? I just have to accept the fact he may just have a stomach virus.

I'm leaning toward reflux issue because I know for sure that missing doses can affect it and I thought that the dosage is based on weight so if he's been on the same dose since 8 weeks it is most likely not high enough now at 6 months.

It sounds like his reflux is out of control. That age is around the time my sons reflux meds stopped working and we had to go to something else. If it was a stomach bug, I would think he would be vomiting a lot more not just during or just after a bottle.

Newleaf was your son spitting up more (kind of like what mine is doing) when his meds stopped working
Also at this age throw up does smell right or no?

Yes. HE was spitting up a lot more and was just uncomfortable... It happened when we were in Florida on vacation. I called the pedi and they upped his dose for the remainder of the trip and it helped a bit, but when we got home we switched to another one.
His spit up was acidic smelling. He didn't really vomit. Just a lot more spit up which was rare for him with his reflux.

The couch can be reflux sounds like that's what's making him get sick. Missing doses or needing higher dose based on weight can do that.

It sounds like reflux. Set an alarm so you/your husband doesn't forget to give him a dose. I'd also bring him to the ped GI to make sure he's on the right dose. At that age, doses change pretty quickly.

DD is almost 5 months and just had a virus - baby throw up does smell!!! Very gross, smells like regular throw up. Does he have a cold or anything? Post nasal drip could be causing him to spit up more also.

just came on to update.
So he is sick
Monday woke up with more diarrhea then he threw up (though it still didn't/doesn't smell like throw up) while I was still on the fence but pretty much knew he was sick
it was def. confirmed when I got a call from DD daycare that she threw up Monday.
So I was dealing with DD sick throwing up on top of DS being sick.
Then my DH came home and later that night also got sick
Thankfully DD woke up this morning 100% better
DH slept all day and slowly got his energy back.
However DS seems to have just gotten worse. Poor kid has been having basically diarrhea all day will only drink really pediyalite and he gave some of that back at times. He then developed a slight fever and his cheek were red. Decided to take him to the dr and has I suspected he has an ear infection and pink eye. Got medicine for both.
We have been trying to stay on his reflux medicine but it seems every time I give it to him is one of the time he decides to throw up Hoping tomorrow to start it regularly again and hoping he gets better tomorrow.
Once he is over this virus I will keep a look out to see if he needs a higher dose of his reflux meds. I already have an appointment with the gastro when we return from our trip.
As of now we are leaving for Florida tomorrow night as plan.
Lets just pray I don't end up with this virus and DS get better quickly

UGH... The problem with stomach bugs is they can hit you at any point.. Hopefully you dodged this one.. Try and keep him as hydrated as you can. It will make for an unhappy baby on a long trip.
My son was just coming down with a stomach bug on a trip home from NH one year. Thankfully he slept a lot, but we had to make 20 stops for diaper changes..

Just wanted to stop in and share my sympathies!! DH and I were both violently sick Sunday overnight and couch-bound all day Monday with that crazy stomach bug. it's the worst. Good luck and I hope your family gets better soon!!
