He Doesn't Want to Eat Solids
We waited until DS was 6 months to start solids. He loved it the first couple days, though I'm starting to think he just liked the novelty of it.
The novelty wore off. Today and yesterday, he wants no part of it. I can maybe get a few spoons of his cereal in him, but then he starts to get annoyed and closes his mouth. No, no way is he taking more.
I don't want to push him too much, cause I don't want to turn him off eating solids. We're going to the doctor next week, so I'll ask her about moving on from the rice cereal, but are there other suggestions? I've tried taking him out of the highchair for feedings (thinking maybe he doesn't like the chair), giving him his own spoon, and feeding him in various stages of hunger.

Have you tried playing with the consitance of the cereal? My dd wouldnt take if it was too soupy or too thick.. i had to find that happy medium for her.

A little, but I've been making it pretty soupy. Maybe I should try and make it thicker?
Thanks!

Re: He Doesn't Want to Eat Solids
I started feeding DS in his bouncy chair. He LOVED the bouncy chair, but it took a while before he would go in the highchair. I fed him in the bouncy chair at first, then when I introduced an afternoon feeding of cereal, I did morning in the bouncy and afternoon in the highchair, then eventually switched to the highchair all the time.
Also - try the other cereals - oatmeal and barley. DS will eat all of them, but I think he likes oatmeal the best. Your DS might just not like the rice cereal much.

DD didn't like her cereal when it was too soupy either. She takes the rice cereal fine when it's just a little on the thicker side.
We have to do backflips to get her to eat oatmeal though. 2 spoons of oatmeal followed by a few sips of the bottle... we keep this up until she refuses to take anymore.

Thanks for the suggestions! I may try giving it a break tomorrow, although thicker cereal may definitely help.
He does seem to like it better in his newborn-toddler rocker than his highchair, though he likes sitting in the highchair if Dad and I are eating.
