Having your house painted

We just got a quote for a painter to come in and paint our entire house except for the kitchen and bathrooms. The quote seemed kind of high, but the house is rather large with a lot of trim, crown molding, wainscotting, etc. If people wouldnt mind sharing, can you tell me how much you paid to have your house painted, how many rooms, size of the house, and whether you have a lot of trim, crown molding etc? I would really apprecaite it! TIA

The more trim and mouldings you have the higher the price.

Just for kicks we got a few estimate for our entire house... FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARSChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It took us 7 weekends, before we moved in to paint the entire house. Can you say no life? But I can get really nice furniture.

I never had any intentions on hiring professionals as I've painted over 30 rooms in several houses by now. The more detail work that has to be done by hand and every time you change paint color it's more $$$$. This is why new contruction homes are painted one color.

2.500 for our home - all interior walls, ceilings, moldings, fixing the nail head pops and removing some shutters and a little plastering. I only had our walk in closet painted and left all the rest of them. We are in NJ. I had quotes up to 3,500 for the entire house. It is 1450 Sq. feet. 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, kitchen, dinnet area, livingroom and dining room, hallways and staircase. Our main entrance has a 2 story open area.

Re: Having your house painted

We didn't have the whole house painted, but just certain areas. It seemed to work out to $200-$250 per room.

And we do have a lot of moulding and trim.
