Has anyone's child had a sleep study done?

My 2 1/2 year old son is going to need a sleep study done to see if he has sleep apnea and whether he needs his adenoids/tonsils taken out. Just curious to hear how the study went for anyone else, I'm not looking forward to it.

Not personal experience, but my best friend took her 3yo DS for a sleep study about a month ago. Turns out he does have sleep apnea and they just scheduled a tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy. My friend said her DS actually slept pretty well during the study... but she didn't. It was harder on her than him. Good luck!

Honestly, it was a very rough night (for me, NOT DS) LOL!!!

We got there at about 8pm, they attached all sorts of nodes to him and then I sat and held let him and let him watch a little TV, after about an hour, he fell asleep no problem.

The place we went to, only gave the parent this thin little cot to sleep on. It was sooooo uncomfortable. And then, whenever I di finally drift off, my son would move in his sleep or something and knock one of the nodes off, so they would come in, flip on all the lights and fix him. At around 6am, they came in and said we could go home. I had never been sooo happy.

He did wind up having sleep apnea and had his tonsils and adenoids removed. Best decision I ever made! Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

They turned on all the overhead lights when they would come in. Not sure why they would do that. We keep lights off and tip toe around the room. We have just the hall light. We have beds for parents. Just a twin but it's something. Not any easy night for parents or kids. Sometimes the kids are so ruff in their sleep they knock the electrodes off.

Has anyone's child had a sleep study done?

We had a wonderful experience in a big family suite. my husband slept in the double bed with my son and I slept in the attached room. We told my son they were going to make him into a sleepy robot. Honestly, we thought it was going to be a nightmare. My son hates Doctors, etc. but he did great. bring an ipad or a dvd player something he can do lying down. Our tech said the worst part was when they put the oxygen in the nostrils, so he came in and put that part in after he had been asleep for a half hour. DS did wake up once in the middle of the night and tried to rip it out but DH was able to get him back to sleep.

This is my fear, my son is so young and he hates people touching and putting things on his face. I feel like it's going to be an all night battle of trying to pull things off.
