Has anyone taken tamiflu while pg
DS was diagnosed with swine flu this week, and it is a completely mild case. His ONLY symptom was a fever. I was truly shocked when I heard.
OB prescribed tamiflu for me, and Im so afraid to take it. Im 13 weeks.
I have no symptoms.
Just curious about any other experiences.

I took Tamiflu about a month ago - I got a really bad flu and was down for the count for about 10 days. Still took antibiotics after that because I really couldn't shake what I had.

I'm on it now. Second grade teacher and a child has a confirmed case of H1N1, so doctor recommended it.

Re: Has anyone taken tamiflu while pg
Thanks for the replies. My understanding is that in the past, pg women had to just "weather" the flu, no meds were used.
My fear is that years from now. we are going to learn that tamiflu is not good for the baby.
This whole issues is causing me such anxiety. Ive had the prescription for two days, and havent touched it.

Re: Has anyone taken tamiflu while pg
I had the flu at 11 weeks and my dr. told me tamiflu was our last resort. I had a pretty severe case and was able to beat it on my own (and took regular tylenol to get the fever down). He said he called a few OB (i was in the middle of changing mine) and they all said they would not reccommend taking it unless I absoultely couldnt fight it on my own.
If you are not sick, I definietly wouldnt take it

Re: Has anyone taken tamiflu while pg
DS started coughing and sneezing yesterday. I took the tamiflu
I was so set in my decision not to take it, but if his symptoms are getting worse... theres no real answer.
And another frustrating piece to this, is how do I know if he doesnt just have a cold right now, and the swine flu is over??
This whole situation has made me a ball of nerves.
