Did you remove yourself or did you hire someone? If you did it yourself how did you do it ?

Re: has anyone removed wall mirror panels glued to the wall?

I was watching HGTV and they used those sticky side plastic carpet protector (like you see in new houses on the carpet floors). It comes in a roll. They sticked the plastic onto the whole surface of the glass so when they removed the mirror and if anything broke it would not go in millions pieces everywhere.

Am I making sense?

BTW, your wall will most likely be ruined and you might have to re-sheetrock them.

We did it when we moved into our house last year. One wall was all mirrors. We wore goggles and gloves and pried each panel off. We then took off all of the cross beams underneath, and DH and his dad spackled, sanded, and repeated many times over.

You were lucky that it was installed that way and not with big blobs of glue on the wall.

We have this in our bathrooms and we would definitely hire someone even though my DH is very handy. Then again, maybe I will look into the HGTV option that was mentioned!

we have it in our master bath and we are going to attempt to do it the HGTV DIY way with the plastic.

Re: has anyone removed mirror panels glued to the wall?

we took one down in our bathroom. We had taken everything else out of the bathroom, closed the door and started to hammer the mirror to break it. we didnt shatter it but tried to break it in to pieces. We both work long pants, shirts, hats goggles, work shoes and maskes. that sucker was glued on the wall so hard. Of course we had to replace the sheetrock behind it because it was distroyed.
its really not that hard of a job...more physical than mental. Chat Icon

Good luck!

I think I saw that episode too. But I just want to make sure I got it , you put the sticky thing all over the mirror and then break it with a hammer? correct? and then you just pull it off? I think that's how they did it.

I do think thew whole thing is just glued to the wall.Chat Icon

You want to avoid any breakage so no hammer. I would try to "pull" it off the wall all in one piece if you can.
