Has anyone recently put in an inground pool?
What company did you use? And what type of pool did you get (size, shape, etc) We have been getting estimates so I was just wondering what some of your experiences have been.

So far Poolmart is the frontrunner. We shall see. Its just so expensive but I think in the long run it would be great to have.

i would love to know this too! we r thinking of getting one also!
ets: after talking w/people...they suggested getting a standard shape b/c then you have other costs such as a custom pool cover for an odd shape/size ...also people who have them said don't get a HUGE one b/c it's a lot to maintain

Re: Has anyone recently put in an inground pool?
We used an amazing company, Couldnt be happier with the installation and the service.
We used Biltrite
I posted some pics of my pool on here a few months back, it was a custom shape, that was designed just for us. We got a loop loc cover, a raised wall with 3 waterfalls and Lamineer jets with fiberoptic lighting.
We are thrilled with our pool!
eta: we did a salt generated pool so there is NO maintence, they just open and close our pool, and the owner of the company comes by and checks everythign for us, but there is no chemicals like chlorine, so it saves money and time.

Two of the quotes that I have gotten were off by a few thousand. One company said about $25,000 for a 18 x 36 pool but this didnt include a lot of the options.
Another told us $23,000 but included getting rid of stumps, an alarm connected to the house, loop loc, salt water generator, etc. Obviously, brick work is not included which runs about another $8000.

I installed a 16-34 rectangle pool with Roman End (pics in album).
It cost $16,995.
I skipped alot of the extras because I really wanted a pool but didnt want the price to go crazy. I'm very happy with it. I skipped salt water, loop loc (for now), brickwork (installed the following year).
Only extra I got was the colored lights that change at night, because DH had to have them.
I wasn't happy with the company I used.
My cousin used Bob's pool, he was happy with them. I wish I checked out Modern Comfort, they seemed like a very professional company.

Re: Has anyone recently put in an inground pool?
poolmart is good
loop loc is great - needs to be the type that does not let sun thru or your pool will be like swamp-thing every time you open it in the summer. great safety for your kids and pets.
alarm - i think you need one no matter what when you build a new pool
salt generator will save you tons of money in the long run. salt is only 6$ a bag. we had salt in our old pool for a season and a half, it was great.

wow...these quotes are HALF the quote I got.
50-60k from Anthony Sylvan. I really need to get more companies in my yard, though this is being put off until the EARLIEST next year.

That's about right if it includes clearing, the pool, permits, cover, heating, salt, brick work and landscaping. Some companies will do the whole deal or partner with other companies but quote for the whole project. IMO, the pool is the cheapest part of the quation.

Are you doing liner or gunite?
And what is your soil like? On LI it's a bit easier to dig with the sand/clay soil. Do you have a lot of boulders and such in your area?
Quotes can vary greatly with the landscaping alone.

the quote was for a gunite pool, but I actually prefer liner. I just like the feel of it on my feet more
we are in between two mountain ranges...so perhaps there is a lot of rock around us. our yard is basically landscaped, though it did include the brickwork around the pool and well as a path leading from a pool to the deck, although this is something we could wait on (the brickwork and stuff)
it was soup to nuts inclusive though. I haven't had anyone else look, so I don't know if the price is too much, or just more than I was expecting to hear.

If that's for gunite and everything else you're stating, I'd say that's a pretty good price.
