Has anyone not taken a childbirth class?
Call me crazy - but I am not interested in taking one at all! I am not going to have a natural birth and figured the less I know ahead of time the better. I have a terribly wild imagination and I don't want to freak myself out.
Anyone else feel this way?

Re: Has anyone not taken a childbirth class?
for me, it's not that i'm worried about my imagination....it's more that i don't "buy" into the whole breathing thing will make me feel better... Kinda in the same way i don't "buy" into yoga (i did try yoga, just didn't fly with me)...
we're watching the Laugh & Learn DVD about Childbirth and as long as I get enough out of that - we will not be taking a class.

I agree! I tried the whole yoga thing myself and thought it was a crock...I am sure it grounds alot of people but for me it didn't do a THING!....It's not mandatory but I know most couples do it.....we just aren't most couples

We didn't take one with my son. We got a video about childbirth and watched that. Of course we didn't see the c-section part and that's what I ended up having!

Re: Has anyone not taken a childbirth class?
Never took any classes with my son and so glad i didn't!!
The nurse was amazing that I had, they walk you through everything...I had a great labor/delivery and really felt the classes would have been useless.
I know some women rent childbirth DVDS which is always a great option!

Re: Has anyone not taken a childbirth class?
We are watching the Laugh and Learn DVD this weekend. As long as that is informative enough, we will not be taking the childbirth class.

I could have written this word for word
I feel like the classes are a waste of money -- I dont believe that breathing techniques do anything more than try to focus your mind on something other than the pain...which isnt really going to help me very much since I plan on getting an epi anyway.
Instead we're renting the Laugh and Learn DVD and I'll use the info from that to guide me through labor. I really think though that midwives and nurses these days do a fabulous job coaching you through labor.
